Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Marrakech

Day 2 – Marrakech → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate → Rose Valley

The meeting point will be the riad from which we depart at 8:30 AM. We will pass through the High Atlas, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass where we’ll make several stops with panoramic views over the mountains and surrounding villages. During this trip, you’ll also visit an argan cooperative to discover the production process of this oil, which has myriad benefits for the human body. From there we continue south, taking a 6 km detour on a track that leads us to the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, where we will visit the kasbah, a UNESCO heritage site. Famous films such as Gladiator, Asterix & Obelix, Sahara, The Jewel of the Nile and more have been shot here. After lunch, we head toward Ouarzazate, known as the great gateway to the desert, and from there continue to the Rose Valley, where we spend the night. Dinner and overnight in a riad.

Day 3 – Rose Valley → Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Erfoud → Erg Chebbi Desert

After breakfast we proceed along a road that will take us to the Dades Gorges, which in the surrounding mountains are a strategic location. We will continue our route along a road studded with beautiful kasbahs, each different from the other, then reach the Todra Gorges. In times past, the river bed carved its course through soft limestone, cutting into the rocks and forming the vertical walls of these gorges, considered a paradise for climbers. We’ll stop on the riverbank, where for several tens of metres you can immerse yourself in the coolness of the place and take a walk. Then we head to the town of Touroug for lunch and in the late afternoon we will arrive at the magnificent dunes of Erg Chebbi. After the traditional welcome tea, we’ll swap our vehicle for another 4×4 – the camels. Once mounted on camels, you’ll cross the dunes to reach the Berber bivouac camp situated in the heart of the desert. There you can enjoy a magical sunset and take photos of this enchanting landscape. Dinner and overnight in the tented camp.

Day 4 – Erg Chebbi → Rissani → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate

The last day of our stay in the desert begins with Rissani: visit to the traditional souk known for its dates and donkeys. We leave the desert and continue our route admiring the pre‑desert landscape until we reach the Draa Valley, where we will stop for lunch and enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over Morocco’s longest valley. The journey goes on until Ouarzazate, the Hollywood of Morocco, where we may visit the film studios (optional visit) and spend the night. Dinner and overnight in a riad.

Day 5 – Ouarzazate → Marrakech

After breakfast departure for the visit to the beautiful Taourirt Kasbah. It’s a splendid sand castle, so beautiful in its play of light to become the setting of many famous films such as Lawrence of Arabia and A Thirst in the Desert. Finally we cross back over the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 metres), where you can admire spectacular panoramas, and arrive back in the Red City.
